Position Summary: The Dock Manager is responsible for managing the team that executes the ROCC the Dock process and maintenance needs of the store. The Dock Manager will also support the Operations Team Manager in other support functions. This is an exempt position and reports to the Operations Team Manager.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
• Supports the management of the ROCC the Dock processes
• Manages sales floor and general housekeeping. Set specific schedules for cleaning and general housekeeping of all areas
• Supervises/manages dock direct reports; coach, counsel, utilize the corrective action process as needed.
• Supports the JLL relationship focusing on the repair and maintenance process
• Communicates policy changes, and vital store information to dock direct reports
• Conducts mid and year-end reviews.
Receiving Preparation
• Works with store management to schedule stock associates according to workload (Functional Schedule following the ROCC procedures.)
• Reviews manifest and becomes familiar with merchandise arriving for delivery; re-allocates tasks to associates as needed given size and complexity of shipment
• Plans ahead and properly preps receiving area for expected products
• Sets up receiving area using recommended layout (based on RTD assessment)
Oversee Receiving Process
• Understands and directs the process for moving the merchandise to the floor, utilizing the functional schedule
• Maintains the cleanliness and organizational standards for the receiving area and stockroom
• Develops and works from a daily prioritized workload plan
• Motivates associates by creating an environment that encourages cooperation and collaboration from all team members
• Clearly defines associate roles during the receiving (unload and sort), merchandise processing/prepping, and stocking process and ensures that they completely understand each of their functions
• Uses coaching materials to instruct associates as well as to better comprehend all aspects of RTD
• Monitors associates to guarantee proper execution of the aspects of RTD
• Sets and manages break schedules
• Conducts feedback session after process is complete for day
• Sets productivity / goals based on RTD cartons per hour performance. Tracks, monitors, and posts productivity results on a designated RTD productivity whiteboard; uses the RTD certification assessment on an ongoing basis to ensure the sustainability of the Project RTD program
Support Role
• Works with the OTM to support the needs of the store with regards to merchandise presentation on the store floor, signage for sales sets, price changes, promotional activities and seasonal requirements as needed to meet store demand.
• Supports the workload planning process
General Policies
• Reports all suspected theft and unusual activities according to the security guidelines for the store
• Observes security and safety regulations by keeping traffic aisles clear
• Attends all store meetings and training sessions as scheduled
• Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance with the current dress code
• Agrees to work in other areas or complete assigned duties as requested by supervisor
• Assists in initial training of new associates when requested and assigned by supervisor
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education & Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Read and Speak English
• Ability to read and adhere to all policy and procedure manuals
Physical
• Ability to lift between 10 lbs. to 72 lbs. at floor level and/or team lift when necessary
• Ability to push / pull receiving equipment weighing up to 500 lbs. such as rolling flats, z-racks and pallet jacks.
• Ability to operate a computer
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work at a safe and steady pace
• Ability to twist, bend and stoop to retrieve items from floor, shelves, racks and hooks and place items on floor, shelves, racks, and hooks
