Position Summary:
The Manager of Payroll Systems/Projects will be responsible for the overall quality of payroll systems and payroll related project work to support the payroll and human resources function within the Belk organization.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and active participation in project identification, project planning/requests, status reporting, requirements definition, testing and implementation planning and execution.
- Provides leadership and active participation in maintaining payroll and other related systems (i.e. Time & Attendance, etc.) to ensure data accuracy, effectiveness of processing controls, defect prevention/mitigation, testing and application of system updates (i.e. routine tax updates, releases, patches/fixes, enhancements, etc.).
- Manage cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize system and process improvement opportunities.
- Provide change management to payroll business partners, users and customers.
- Preparation and delivery of reports/data files to both internal and external business partners.
- Maintains close collaboration with the entire payroll team and provides knowledge transfer/training, support and guidance as required.
- Maintains a detailed working knowledge of payroll concepts, regulatory changes and employment tax laws.
- Drives continuous improvement and integration of payroll functions and processes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the payroll team, total rewards team, corporate/division/store/DC HR, and corporate/field associates.
- Serves as back-up to the Manager of Payroll Operations as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and/or equivalent years of experience
- 6 or more years of applicable experience
- Experience with payroll systems and related projects. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
