Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
The Infrastructure Architect (IA) is a member of the Belk Infrastructure Engineering team and is responsible for leading the process that aligns our technology foundational components to business system initiatives.  The IA role is to coordinate, direct, and design project infrastructure activities as well as provide technology direction in support of the project and support teams.

The IA possesses a broad knowledgebase with a focus on strategic technologies including: IBM Power Systems, AIX, Linux, Sun Solaris, Power VM, VIOS, and Storage technologies.
The IA will also work with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.  The IA will participate in overall IT planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems.

The IA role works in close partnership with Infrastructure Engineering team aligning technical solutions to business and technology strategies. This position will be responsible for designing and delivering solutions which are fault tolerant, flexible, and scalable to support our development, test and production environments.
The scope of this position includes collaboration and participation with all IT Infrastructure core components; furthermore, the IA will be a liaison between Belk IT and Belk’s business partners, such as TCS, and will work collaboratively to maintain and operate all related systems in support of end-user access, performance, and stability.

Requirements/Qualifications:

•Architect, Design, Engineer, Implement and provide technical support for Unix technologies (IBM Power Systems, Linux, Solaris) including hardware management, operating systems, network communications, transaction processing, testing, performance management, capacity planning, software management and other third party tools as required/needed, across dispersed datacenter locations
•Sets technical standards and procedures across the enterprise for all strategic platforms.
•Creates "Position Statements", "Technical Approaches" and "Technical Designs" documents as technology guidelines
•Monitors and recommends current and future architecture trends
•Communicates with, educates, and mentors colleagues
•Perform and/or support the installation, upgrade, configuration, deployment, and administration of IBM Power Systems hardware and operating systems.
•Analyzes and evaluates Power Systems operations and provides technical direction and recommendations to improve utilization. Implements automation procedures and tools to optimize staff and computing resources and their availability.
•Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and/or CA Monitoring and ITIL products is a plus
•Must be able to remain current and possess knowledge of emerging technologies
•Advises management of options, risk vs. cost, benefits and other impacts on Infrastructure technology solutions

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and/or Certifications: 
Minimum Required: 
Bachelors degree and/or equivent years of experience

Experience:
Minimum Required:

•Specific work or project experience: 7+ years Power Systems with AIX functional experience (must be able to work with current hardware and software) working in a large, highly virtualized and diverse computing environment
•7+ years working experience with a broad range of Infrastructure and Storage solutions
•Possess deep technical experience including designing, installing, integrating, implementing, and supporting multiple versions of AIX based solutions, including implementing and supporting attached BladeCenter and IBM storage networking solutions
•Possess practical applied knowledge in certain key technical areas such as; iSCSI, Linux and Storage networking
•5+ years working as an Infrastructure Engineer to implement complex solutions
•5+ years working experience with a broad range of Infrastructure and Storage solutions
•Experience with analyzing and documenting Technology solutions and mapping them to business TCO and ROI Analysis
•Experience in Design and Implementation of Retail Industry Systems (POS, eCommerce, CRM, Merchandising, etc)

•Power Systems performance management and automation Expert knowledge in Design and Implementation of Proactive Monitoring and Management processes for all responsible environments
•IBM iOS and AIX v6 or later
•IBM POWER 6, POWER 7, POWER 8, or later
•IBM TSM
•High Availability Disaster Recovery technologies.
•Messaging Tools
•Expert knowledge in Developing, Planning and executing DR procedures for all responsible environments
•Provide Configuration Management leadership across the enterprise for all supported technology platforms
•Practical knowledge and a large experience of a broad range of infrastructure technologies including: IBM/Lenovo X-Series Systems, Cisco Networking, and Storage Systems (XIV, V3700, Brocade, FCoE)
•Practical knowledge and a large experience of infrastructure services delivery techniques
•Practical knowledge and a large experience of Internet facing environments
•Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture concepts and best practices
•Excellent system problem diagnostic skills on both hardware and software
•Strong communication skills
