The successful candidate will lead the Infrastructure architecture (plan) & engineering (Build) function and will work with our stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, Application Delivery Teams, and partners to establish and operate a comprehensive infrastructure function for Belk.  The Director of Infrastructure Architecture & engineering will be a career systems engineer who has progressed to senior leadership.

This leader will plan, articulate Belk’s infrastructure technology strategy, and execute the transformation across the portfolio so that we progress towards target end state and actualize planned advantages.  The successful candidate will also necessarily be expert at financial models associated with technology decisions, including upfront investment, total cost of ownership, and expense / run models.  The successful candidate will also have recent experience with technology trends, and will be knowledgeable about how best to implement cloud options in retail to best advantage.
This director will specialize in delivery of all infrastructure for Belk IT projects per project schedules, including management of capital and expense budgets and staff.

Essential Responsibilities & Skills

•Develop and implement infrastructure strategy that enables innovation and seeks to leverage technology trends that can create business value with agility and performance.
•Perform end-to-end systems infrastructure design, capacity planning and performance management, identifying opportunities for automation, cost savings, and service quality improvement for retail stores & data center technologies, wireless, VoIP and end-user computing
•Manage and oversee all infrastructure projects delivery. Prioritize, guide, direct and monitor work efforts of Infrastructure Project Managers and Technical teams. Track, report, and resolve issues in a timely manner to ensure project delivery
•Manage capital expenditures and related expense budgets. Work with IT Finance and vendors to ensure architected technologies are procured following Belk sourcing processes and procedures in a coordinated and timely fashion.
•Communicate in both a technical and non-technical manner.  Must be able to listen and understand technical solutions, problems and issues and communicate them and their status for resolution to a non-technical audience. 
•Develop the Infrastructure team and mentor talent to deliver the technology management and execution capabilities of the organization.  Attract and retain talent through positive employee relations and robust succession planning.
•Manage the technology direction and tools of the team, ensuring that appropriate standards are set, maintained, followed and reported on regularly.
