Position Summary:
The role of the Financial Analyst in Operations is to prepare accurate and timely financial budgeting/forecasting reports; analyze trends and variances using various financial and other metrics/ measurements for the various Operations’ areas including Utilities, Repairs, Maintenance, Travel, Supplies, and Strategic Sourcing.  This individual ascertains trends and builds and executes action plans to address those trends.  The individual reviews results and adjusts action plans to get the desired outcome.  Is able to utilize existing financial databases and use/develop and/or maintain internal/external databases.  Ad hoc and project work as assigned by management.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing, analyzing, and tracking financial goals, metrics, and plans for assigned areas.  This would include, but not limited to, expense forecasting via historical trends and defined variables, future initiatives, usage rates, and other assigned measurements in addition to providing variance explanations, researching drivers both micro and macro, communication of results, etc.
  • Aid in the development, tracking, and analysis of annual and multi-year goals and strategies.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and efficiencies.  Develop and implement action plans, following up on results and adjusting plans as necessary to get desired outcome.
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc management reports, financial analyses and communications/presentations upon request on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis or as requested.
  • Identify, quantify, and communicate risks and opportunities to budget. Act as a “Subject Matter Expert” for areas of responsibility.
  • Lead the financial planning development (expense & capital budgets) for assigned areas and become an expert in those areas.
  • Able to identify, analyze, and develop expense and margin improvement ideas that can be implemented and increase EBIT.
  • Ability to develop effective communications with Operations, other Functional Heads, Divisions, and Executive management. Partner with key expense stakeholders to understand key expense drivers.
  • Act as a “Subject Matter Expert” for areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain expense forecasting models for areas of responsibility.
  • Develop budget reporting for inclusion in management presentations.
  • Facilitate the entry of the budget into the Hyperion planning system.
  • Prepare ad hoc management reports, financial analyses, and presentations.
  • Identify and communicate process improvements throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other Finance Department associates and management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with departmental and divisional management and expense budget owners.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and/or equivalent years of experience
  • 2 or more years of applicable experience
